Manuel Ballesteros is a Telecommunications and Cybersecurity Engineer. He currently works as Radiofrequency Teacher in Technical Education and as an Industrial Cybersecurity Engineer at Siemens-Gamesa.

Manuel Ballesteros holds a degree in Electronic Systems Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) with honors in his Final Degree Project and a master’s degree in industrial Cybersecurity from UCJC. He is also an expert in Procurement Management by CEPADE-UPM.

His professional career has taken place in various sectors of the industry:

He began his journey in 2012, balancing training and work as an Engineer in Electromedicine at the University Hospital of Getafe for the company Imtech Spain, where the planning and implementation of all medical systems were carried out. He has also been a Design and Development Engineer at RF-Explorer, designing Radio Frequency / Microwave Hardware and programming embedded systems.

In his current role, he is dedicated to cybersecurity in the environment of Operation Technologies (OT), IEC 62443, automation, and industry 4.0 in each hybrid park (wind turbines and solar panels). He has proven his responsibility in companies such as AVEVA and later Siemens-Gamesa (SGRE).

As a volunteer, he has been the president of IEEE Young Professionals Spain and a member of the R8 in the humanitarian activities committee. He has led various projects for the section such as the Young Professionals Tour in Madrid, Sevilla, and Cartagena, Engineering Day at UPM, IEEE Gamer, as well as collaboration in IEEE student congresses like EuMW, Globecom, Eurocon, SYP, Startup Olé… He currently belongs to the YP Global leadership team of the Sensor Council where he contributes to increasing the visibility of the work done by the section. He has also been the founder of the UPM-Sur student branch.

A member of the IEEE for 15 years, he belongs to the Communications Society, the IEEE Industrial Applications Society, and the Computer Society.
